2024: Harnessing the Power of Words

This is a time of extremes, of great upheaval, as the old paradigms are dying and the new ones are still being born. This is a time of tremendous possibility as well as significant danger.

The focus of this course is how we evolve our consciousness, with an emphasis on choosing words wisely, in order to harness their power.
… including what we say to ourselves …

For women who feel they are being called by Something Greater, beyond their individual self. Who sense they have gifts the Universe wants to bring forth through them, to serve, to offer the world at this time of both tragedy and transformation.

Six Course meetings:
April 4 – May 16, 2024
Skip April 25
2:00-3:30 pm ET, Thursdays

Sessions are recorded and are available for those registered.

A free Introductory Session was held on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Words are powerful.
They can create connection, community, and belonging.
Or separation and discord.

Harnessing the Power of Words teaches us to speak with
kindness, clarity and intention,
knowing that what we focus on grows.

Learn to maintain equanimity and compassion in the midst of tumultuous change.

Come explore these important issues with us!

Join Betsey and a group of kindred spirits for a course focused on the skills needed to meet the challenges of this tumultuous time and to support the evolution of Consciousness that the world is longing for.

*from Cindy Wigglesworth, The 21 Skills of Spiritual Intelligence.

“Betsey is so grounded and clear in her teaching. The online Training in Compassion book club was very well organized with a clear structure each week, but there was also plenty of time for the participants to share and connect. This created a true sense of community that gave us all the support we needed to go deeper on our own personal journey.”

Wendy Andersen, JD and eRYT 500 Yoga Instrutor

Course information:

      • Our 2024 course, Harnessing the Power of Words, uses the concepts in Will Bowen’s book, A Complaint Free World: the 21-day challenge that will change your life: No complaining, no criticizing, no gossiping!
      • It is not necessary, however, to purchase the book. You will receive a handout summarizing the major points of becoming complaint free, and we’ll discuss them in the first 3 sessions.
      • However, if you want to have the book for the course order it as soon as possible, so you’ll have it when we begin on April 4. The book is chock full of ideas and stories to keep you motivated to continue becoming “complaint free” for the 21 consecutive days.
      • To develop the awareness of when we complain, criticize, or gossip, it’s helpful to perform an action each time we notice that we’re complaining. The Complaint Free program suggests wearing a bracelet (or rubber band) on one wrist and changing it to the other wrist each time we speak words that are complaining, criticizing, or gossiping. Or put a small stone or crystal in your pocket and change it to another pocket when you complain!
      • Seemingly simple, it can be humbling to do it for 21 consecutive days. That means each time you notice you’ve complained, you must start all over with day 1(!!).
      • It takes the average person 5-7 months to accomplish the 21 consecutive days!! It’s helpful to remember that you’re developing a life-long skill that will enhance your life immediately and forever (with a little mindfulness!)
      • The last 3 weeks will focus on observing and describing world events, using wise words, so that you stay grounded, confident, caring, and compassionate.  And learn how to not be subsumed by outside events.
      • In addition to practicing becoming complaint free, there will be approximately an hour of homework (video to watch or article to read) to prepare for each session.

    • The words you speak become the house you live in”.

      Hafiz, 14th century Persian poet

      Format of the sessions:

Each session includes a centering, short presentation, discussion of the topic with the whole group and in breakout rooms, sharing your progress on becoming “complaint free”, a quieting practice of breathing or focused attention, and Q&A.

      Cost: $90

$90 for the 6-session course. Recordings are available for those who are registered.

“I met Betsey in 2003 in a Yoga Teacher Training and was immediately attracted to her presence: intimate, precise, and compassionate. Betsey moves forward as an Evolutionist, Humanist, Climate Specialist, Environmentalist, Spiritualist, and a Realist. She is passionate about language and the power of words used to communicate with mindfulness and loving speech. Betsey warmly shares with others her knowledge, guidance, and wisdom, and invites us to become participants in the evolution of creating a world for all – using our gifts, talents, and passions.”
